CPR Practicum dates are Jan 23, Jan 24 ( after finals), Jan 27th, Feb 3, 9 am

CPR Certfication: This needs to be done prior to coming in for Practicum CPR, you need to PRINT your CERTIFICATE

2. Choose HeartCode BLS

3. You will do this on your own, at home and print out certificate when completed. It will cost you $28.50.

4. Sign up for 1 of the following dates. You will come here for a skills test and that will take about 3 hours. Jan  22 - after finals, Jan 23 after finals, Jan 27,  9 am or Feb 3, 9am

Friday Homework: ****Windham I know you have exams, so work on this and needs to be done when you return to SHS****
Bring in rough draft of your cover letter should be 3 paragraphs ( see below), resume google docs has some great ones and your learning objectives.

  •  1st paragraph: introducing yourself, who you are, what you have done to qualify to work there, what are your qualities any volunteer hours, certificates, why you want to have an internship
  • 2nd paragraph: well them you belong to an HST program and how that has started you off in the "right" direction, then proceed with what are your goals, where do you see yourself, how can the internship get you there
  • 3rd paragraph: recap on requesting this intership, attached you will find your resume and goals, thank you for the opportunity, would like to set up for an interview.

1.  list the organs of the nervous system and describe the generalized functions of the nervous system as a whole
2.  Identify the major types of cells in the nervous system and discuss the function of each
3.  Identify the structure of a nerve/ neuron
4.  compare and contrast the differences between a sensory,  motor and interneuron
5.  identify the anatomical and functional components of a three neuron reflex arc
6.  Describe the propogation of a nerve impulse along a nerve fiber and across a synaptic cleft.
- describe the differences between a graded potiential, and and action potential of a neuron.
7.  Identify the major neurotransmitters and describe their general function
8.  Identify and describe the anatomical components of the brain and spinal cord, their functions and brain and spinal cord dysfunctions.
9.  compare and contrast the coverings of the brain and spinal cord . Describe CSF flow through the brain, and discuss related disorders .
10.  Describe the differences between cranial and peripheral nerves, and related disorders
11. Discuss the structure of the ANS , the differences in the divisions and related disorders.
